Gordon is Contracts Supervisor at TTAG and possesses a wealth of experience in his field. This interview will provide insights in to those years of industry experience, his day to day involvement in Scaffold Management but also allowing you to see what makes TTAG so unique.
Q. Thank you for being a part of our interview series Gordon, can you tell us what your role is within TTAG?
A.
I’m glad I can be part of this. Currently, I operate as Contracts Supervisor for TTAG.
My role is is to oversee day to day running of sites, from working with supervisors and site managers to relaying back to TTAG directors.
With my many years of experience completing complex projects, I manage my team and know their strengths. Being in charge of site supervisors and safety on site is a big responsibility and one which I embrace.
Q. Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
A.
I got my start as a labourer and from there advanced to Scaffold Supervisor. Over the years my remit has predominately been Scaffolding and has seen me progress to specialist roles in both management and business development.
I joined TTAG in 2014, but have been working in the industry for some 35 years.
When I received the call from an esteemed and trusted former colleague, to inform me that TTAG would like to hire me I was excited to join the team. Having followed the company’s journey and success over the years it was a no brainer!
On a personal level, I come from a hard working family and believe this to be where my diligent approach to business was shaped. Happily married and have been a foster parent for 20 years, caring for 180 children.
Work and family balance is important to me and TTAG fully embrace this. The structure of the company is one of the best I have experienced in all my years. The infrastructure in place here allows us to provide our clients with our maximum care and attention. Staff are then well rewarded and looked after for their efforts and achievements. TTAG have created a close-knit family feel within the company, which has proven to breed cohesion and consistent high standards.

A.
Good Question. Well, our unique advantage is undoubtably our collective approach to resolving project issues as and when they arise. From Director level to Contracts Managers to Labourers on the ground the communication is so strong here across the board.
I believe this is core to why we have so many long-standing relationships with our clients and why we deliver exceptional results on time.

A.
As a senior figure in the company they have to say that! (laughs)
I do pride myself on my work and set high standards, that is correct.
But I also believe in being a positive individual and having a strong positive attitude, which helps motivate those around me.
My door is always open to colleagues and have always felt that I am a cheery and approachable person.
Q. Tell us something that people may not know about you Gordon?
A.
Ok, sure. I’ve been involved with Irvine Incorporated Trades since 1994 and have held many posts. Currently I am Collector of The Trades and will proudly be taking on the role of Deacon Convener in October 2019. We raise thousands of pounds and give to various charities. I am extremely proud to play a part in this.
Being part of a company that embraces charity work is really rewarding and I feel it brings us all closer together as a unit.
