Ttag’s Apprenticeship Programme – Dumbarton Care Homes
July 14, 2015Staffing
Ttag Scaffolding & Brickwork are delighted to announce that we have secured the contract to aid in the construction of West Dumbartonshire Council’s new multimillion pound care home and day centre.
Care home to aid the elderly community
We are very proud to be given the chance to work on such a project which will accommodate 84 new residents and 50 day care users. This build will promote the care of the elderly community in the area while aiding them in improving their independence in their later years. West Dumbartonshire Council have already received constructive feedback from Care Inspectorate which will help ensure that the new care home will provide its new residents with first class accommodation. In addition to accommodation the build will include communal court yard areas which will allow residents to engage in outdoor activities whilst remaining in a safe environment. Ttag will be directly involved with in the project till the end of April with the build expected to be completed early next year (2017).
Apprentice Scheme
Working with the main contractor on the site, Morgan Sindall, as well as Hub West Scotland we have also taken on apprentices for this project. By working with apprenticeship schemes we aim to help create jobs and aid young workers throughout the Glasgow area. We currently have on board 4 apprentices, 2 bricklaying apprentices and 2 scaffolding apprentices. Working with use these apprentices learn their trade and gain education within their chosen industry. This ensures that these young men will gain the qualifications needed in order to pursue a career in the construction industry while they still earn a wage in the meantime. The CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) brick laying and scaffolding apprenticeship scheme lasts 4 years and gains the apprentice an SAQ level 3 qualification.
Ttag, Creating Jobs for young Apprentices
We are always more than happy to then hire any apprentice who has worked with us in the past to gain this qualification with 1 of our current employees having being hired in this way. By working with these schemes and with the Hub West Scotland we look to give many people the chance to gain their qualifications and ensure they will have the ability to pursue a career in the construction industry.
